In this post, we will go over these prevalent issues in depth and examine their impact on Cadillac XT4 drivers.

- Electrical system: Issues with any of the following systems- Remote start, parking assist, liftgate button, voice commands, failing to unlock the vehicle, fob issues
2019 Cadillac XT4 Transmission Problems
Certain vehicles from General Motors (GM), including the 2019 Cadillac XT4, have been associated with transmission problems.
In 2020, GM initiated a recall for the 2019 XT4 to address a serious issue: missing bolts on the start-stop accumulator endcap.
This defect could cause a transmission oil leak, which might lead to a loss of propulsion, significantly increasing the risk of an accident.
Additionally, a transmission fluid leak in the presence of an ignition source could heighten the risk of a vehicle fire.
This recall was documented under the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) campaign number 20V-668.
Many Cadillac owners have reported issues with the nine-speed transmission in the 2019 XT4, including stalling, error codes, stuttering, power loss, jerking in cold weather, and problems with shifting.
In response to these complaints, Cadillac issued a technical service bulletin in December 2018. This bulletin identified a potential defect that could allow coolant to leak into the transmission fluid.
If such contamination is detected, both the transmission and the exchanger will be replaced under warranty.
2019 Cadillac XT4 Engine Problems
The 2019 Cadillac XT4 has been subject to various engine-related issues, with engine fluid leaks being among the most reported.
Other problems that owners may encounter include faulty accessory belts and pulleys, engine computer errors, knocking or pinging noises from the engine, and fuel leaks.
Despite these concerns, the 2019 XT4 has not been part of any official recalls specifically related to engine defects.
However, many consumer reviews and complaints highlight these engine issues, which can affect the vehicle’s performance and reliability.
It’s advisable for owners experiencing these problems to have their vehicles inspected by a qualified technician and to check for any updates or service bulletins from Cadillac.
2019 Cadillac XT4 Electrical Problems
Common electrical problems in the 2019 Cadillac XT4 include a malfunctioning liftgate button, inoperative parking assist, failure of the remote start feature, issues with unlocking the vehicle, and non-functional voice commands.
In 2022, certain units of the 2019 XT4 were included in a recall addressing a critical safety issue related to back-over protection.
The problem involved the dashboard screen and backup camera, where the video processing module (VPM) could lose communication with the rearview camera, resulting in the loss of the rearview camera image. This issue could increase the risk of accidents when reversing.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) campaign ID number for this recall is 22V-868.
Drivers experiencing any electrical issues should contact their dealership for assistance and check if their vehicle is affected by any recalls or service bulletins.
XT4 Owner Concerns
“The throttle and accelerator pedal is very HOT- highly sensitive, resulting in jerky lunging upon start off in 1st gear from a dead or 1 mph stop. The vehicle has been into the dealer 2 times for this issue with the same repair comments, vehicle meets all factory specs and all XT 4 react this way- well that’s not safe. If that’s the case, then this is a design defect which is unsafe as the accelerator pedal reacts to quickly with a non-smooth action and lunging which could cause a rear end collision.”
“The engine started to leak oil, coming down the passenger side of the motor. This was around at 22,000 miles. The dealer says that this is a leaking intake manifold gasket. It has taken them 3 separate repairs to fix this issue. I feel that my engine warranty from Cadillac should be extended, past the 5yr 60k powertrain warranty. We have had this vehicle now for 4 years, and we don’t drive it alot. As of this writing 11/21/2023 the vehicle has around 29,000 miles on it. It appears that it is leaking again, so it will be going back into the dealer again.”
“Excited to get my brand new 2019 xt4, have had 2 SRXs. I have had this vehicle for a year now and it has been at the dealer for 6 weeks and counting. Camera sensor system went out, most recently the transmission went out, new transmission, now the turbo is being replaced. Not sure I even want it back at this point.”
