Dealers were instructed to inspect the driver’s seat and replace the seat cushion frame if necessary.
Additionally, on May 11, 2023, NHTSA Campaign Number 23V-339 was issued due to a defect in the rear-seat lower child seat LATCH anchorage bars in certain GMC Terrain vehicles.
The excessive powder coating on the bars could prevent a child seat from being properly installed, failing to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 225.
Owners were advised to use the vehicle’s rear seat belts for child seats until repairs could be made, and dealers were instructed to inspect and correct the LATCH anchorage bars.

“While driving at approximately 55 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled and would not accelerate. I was able to pull over onto the shoulder and turn the vehicle off. The engine would not turn over and the brake pedal locked into position, rendering the vehicle immobile. The check engine light also came on at this point. The vehicle was towed and ultimately repaired at the local GMC dealership, where the fuel pump was replaced. The 2022 GMC Terrain already has a recall in place due to the fuel pump module not providing sufficient fuel to the engine, resulting in an engine stall (23V013000), the effects of which sound very similar to what occurred. However, this vehicle’s VIN was not included in the recall. We are very lucky that this failure did not result in a crash, and that no further incident occurred while we were stranded on the side of the highway during the night, waiting for a tow.”
“On Aug 3rd 2023 I was driving east on a Michigan Highway when the service transmission warning came across the dash then the car shut off while driving 60mph. When trying to steer the car to the side of the road I noticed the car was in park(this car is equipped with push button shift). The car shutting off made it very hard to steer. If the traffic was heavy this could have caused an accident.”
