According to Kia, the Idle Stop & Go system’s electronic controller may contain damaged electrical components, which could cause the oil pump to overheat and increase the risk of fire.
Kia advised drivers to park their vehicles outside and away from structures until the recall repair has been completed. Dealers will inspect and, if needed, replace the electric oil pump controller at no cost.
Kia Sportage Owner Issues
“I was going 40 mph and tried to set the cruise control to my current speed. The cruise control set at 110 mph instead. I tapped the brake to stop the cruise control and it stopped. I tried to set the cruise control again multiple times and the same thing happened. I parked, turned the car off then on again and the cruise control worked like normal.”
“When I pulled up at home and parked the vehicle, I pressed the brake pedal, stopping the vehicle, and then pressed the Park button and took my foot off the brake. The vehicle was not in park and rolled forward hitting my trailer with two Jet Skis on it in my driveway damaging the front of my vehicle, and one of the 2 Jet Skis. This is the first time this has happened, and there was no warning at all. Luckily it was in my driveway with no one around. If it had happened in a store parking lot or on a street, it could injure or kill someone easily.
“Fuel door doesn’t always open resulting in having to take interior trunk panels off to release. Both speedo and radio screens shut down periodically. Loud knocking noise at rear passenger area that Go Kia South Edmonton can’t diagnose. Everyone can hear it but apparently their advice is to replace speakers with louder speakers or wear ear plugs. It’s so bad we barely drive the car anymore. Fuel mileage is not good.”
