2023 Lincoln Corsair Engine Problems
One of the most significant problems reported by 2023 Lincoln Corsair drivers involves engine compartment fires.
According to recall filings, certain Corsair models equipped with 2.5L HEV or PHEV engines may experience engine failure that causes engine oil and fuel vapor to escape.
These substances can accumulate near hot engine components or the exhaust system, creating a risk of fire. This issue is part of a broader recall that also includes various Escape and Maverick models.
Affected Corsair owners were advised to shut off their vehicles immediately if they noticed unusual noises, a sudden loss of power, or saw smoke coming from the engine area.
In response, Ford announced that it would replace the engine long-block in affected 2023 Corsair models free of charge.
This recall was filed under NHTSA Campaign Number 23V-380 and covers more than 125,000 units. It is an expansion of a previous recall (22V-484), and vehicles already serviced under the earlier recall still need to receive the updated fix, though this vehicle was not included in NHTSA Recall 22V-484.
The 2023 Lincoln Corsair may also be prone to fuel system issues. In late 2024, Ford issued a recall after discovering that some fuel injectors may have been assembled without the necessary O-ring support discs.
Without these components, the injectors can leak fuel, increasing the risk of a fire if the leak occurs near an ignition source.
Only a small number of vehicles were affected by this issue, but it still prompted a safety campaign.
This recall was filed under NHTSA Campaign Number 24V-634. Dealers will install new O-rings and O-ring support discs at no cost to the owner.
Some Corsair owners have also reported abnormal engine noises and reduced performance, which could signal internal mechanical problems, such as connecting rod bearing failure.
In some cases, these issues have led to total engine shutdowns. If you experience these symptoms, you should have your vehicle inspected immediately, especially if your Corsair is affected by any of these recalls.
2023 Lincoln Corsair Transmission Problems
The 2023 Lincoln Corsair may be prone to transmission issues such as jerky shifting. Drivers have noted abrupt gear changes, especially during acceleration and deceleration.
This not only disrupts the driving experience but may also point to underlying issues with the transmission control system.
Another concern involves delayed transmission responses. Some owners have experienced hesitation when shifting gears or when attempting to accelerate from a stop.
This delay can be unsettling and potentially hazardous, particularly when quick maneuvering is required in traffic or at intersections.
There have also been reports of rough gear engagement. This issue typically presents itself when the vehicle shifts into drive or reverse, with a noticeable jolt or clunk.
It affects overall driving comfort and can indicate mechanical wear or calibration problems within the transmission system.
Addressing these problems early through routine diagnostics and maintenance can help reduce long-term transmission damage and preserve vehicle safety, so you’ll want to act fast and have your Lincoln inspected by a certified technician if you are experiencing drivetrain or transmission problems.
2023 Lincoln Corsair Electrical System Problems
The 2023 Lincoln Corsair may be vulnerable to electrical system issues affecting the infotainment system, backup camera, battery, and sensors.
Some owners have experienced faults with the infotainment system, including touchscreen responsiveness issues, which can significantly affect the usability of the vehicle’s entertainment and navigation features.
Drivers have also filed complaints involving the backup camera, with some owners reporting that it displays a blue screen or freezes. This issue can be particularly concerning when reversing, as it compromises visibility and safety.
Another problem reported by some drivers involves the battery, with several noting that their vehicle unexpectedly shuts off or fails to start, even after multiple attempts to replace the battery. For some drivers, this issue persists despite having the battery replaced.
In addition to these electrical system concerns, NHTSA Campaign Number 24V-954, addresses a high voltage battery issue.
A manufacturing defect in one or more of the high voltage battery cells could result in an internal short circuit, leading to battery failure.
Such a failure could cause a loss of drive power, significantly increasing the risk of a crash, or even posing a fire hazard.
To remedy this, owners are advised not to charge the battery until the issue has been resolved. Dealers will perform a software update on the battery energy control module (BECM) and replace the high voltage battery pack, as needed, at no cost to the owner. The required parts are expected to be available in the second quarter of 2025.
If you’re an owner of a 2023 Lincoln Corsair, make sure to do your best to have any issues repaired and stay informed about these recalls, seeking the necessary repairs or replacements promptly to ensure your safety on the road.
2023 Lincoln Corsair Forward Collision Avoidance Problems
Some 2023 Lincoln Corsair owners have experienced issues with the vehicle’s forward collision avoidance system. One of the most common complaints involves false alarms.
Drivers have reported that the system occasionally detects non-existent obstacles, triggering sudden warnings or even unnecessary braking. These false positives can be both distracting and frustrating, particularly during routine driving.
In other cases, the system has reportedly failed to detect actual obstacles or vehicles in front. Such failures can significantly reduce the effectiveness of this safety feature, leaving drivers vulnerable in situations where an automatic response is expected.
Sensor malfunctions have also been noted as a contributing factor. Defective or misaligned sensors may lead to inconsistent operation of the forward collision avoidance system, which can undermine driver confidence and vehicle safety.

What Lincoln Corsair Owners Say…
“Cruise control will not hold lock. Suddenly without warning and with no manual input the speed will surge to well over 80MPH and continues to accelerate until the cruise control is manually disengaged. Also sometimes it will go the other way dropping Suddenly to under 50 MPH after being running at 65MPH. This will happen without warning even on an empty highway with no other cars in front. I took the car to the dealer who told me other 2023 Corsairs have the same problem and they said they did a software update but the problem is still there and was not fixed.”
“The car keeps just fully turning off. Dealership has tried to replace the battery several times but the problem keeps happening. I am [XXX] and have been left stranded 4 times now. They can’t seem to fix the problem. My car has been in the dealership 45 days of the 60 days I have owned it. I feel very vulnerable even if they do find a fix, I think it will happen again and again.”
“Bought a new Corsair, 6 months later would not start. Had to be towed in. When you buy they say they will pick up and deliver for service. They would not return it since it was towed. I had to Uber there. Poor quality vehicle, hood shimmies when on the highway. Took it in and they said that is the way they are. Automatic transmission that feels like a stick shift when in Excite mode. Traded it in after 9 months and lost 11k. It had 4k miles on it.”
Lemon Law Eligibility Explained
If you’re dealing with persistent problems in your 2023 Lincoln Corsair, you may be eligible for protection under your state’s lemon law.
This law is designed to assist consumers whose vehicles repeatedly fail to meet performance or quality standards within the warranty period.
If your 2023 Lincoln Corsair is experiencing ongoing defects that impact its safety, reliability, or overall value, you could have a legal avenue for recourse.
Lemon law protections differ from state to state, but they typically offer remedies such as a replacement vehicle, a refund, or monetary compensation.
If you choose a refund, the manufacturer may deduct an amount based on how long the vehicle was without issues during its time in service.
If you opt for a replacement vehicle, you may be responsible for any price difference if the new vehicle costs more than the original, along with any applicable usage fees.
In most cases, if your lemon law claim is successful, the manufacturer will be required to cover your legal fees and other related expenses.
This ensures that you can pursue a resolution for your 2023 Lincoln Corsair’s issues without incurring the cost of legal services.
