2025 Ford F-150 Problems

Common problems: The most commonly reported problems with the 2025 Ford F-150 are brake problems, transmission issues, and electrical system problems.

Ford has also announced nine recalls for this vehicle, which is a substantial number considering the vehicle’s fairly recent year.

The 2025 Ford F-150 is advertised as a capable and safe truck, full of features that create both comfort and useability.

Unfortunately, no vehicle is perfect, and the 2025 F-150 is no exception. Consumers who purchased one of these vehicles have begun voicing their concerns across the internet, leaving reviews on platforms like Kelley Blue Book or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

In this article, we discuss those complaints and summarize them by problem type. Continue reading to find out more about the problems faced by 2025 Ford F-150 owners.

2025 Ford F-150 Brake Problems

Brake problems present a serious safety risk because they compromise a driver’s ability to control the vehicle.

When brakes do not function properly, stopping distances increase, which can make it difficult to avoid collisions in emergencies.

In some cases, brakes may fail to engage at all, creating the possibility of catastrophic accidents. For the 2025 F-150, consumers discussed experiencing brake failure, reducing braking power, and their brake warning lights coming on during these failures.

Since brake problems are some of the most dangerous a vehicle can have, they should be taken very seriously.

A vehicle with brake problems should be taken in to be repaired as soon as possible after the problems are discovered.

There has also been a recall connected to the braking system in the 2025 Ford F-150. This recall was announced on July 25, 2025, and was for a reduced power brake assist issue the vehicle was having.

The remedy for this recall is an over the air software update for the vehicle’s electronic brake booster module. The NHTSA Recall Campaign ID is 25V488000.

2025 Ford F-150 Electrical System Problems

Electrical system problems in vehicles can be dangerous because modern cars rely heavily on electronics for both safety and functionality.

Failures in this system can affect critical components such as headlights, brake lights, and turn signals, reducing visibility and communication with other drivers.

In the case of the Ford F-150, consumers mentioned their instrument clusters going dark and seeing warning lights when nothing appeared wrong with the vehicle. Because of the complexity of these systems, problems can be difficult to diagnose, which often leads to delays in repair.

Any signs of electrical failure should be addressed quickly to avoid serious safety hazards on the road.

Another recall for the 2025 Ford F-150 involves the electrical system. In June of 2025, Ford announced a recall for the engine wire harness, which could rub up against other parts of the vehicle and disconnect, leading to a stall.

The remedy for this recall is inspection and potential relocation of the parts that could come into contact with each other. The NHTSA Recall Campaign Number is 25V398000.

2025 Ford F-150 Recalls

Besides the two recalls already discussed, there are seven other recalls ongoing for the 2025 Ford F-150. In order from most recent to oldest, they are:

  • Fatigued Rear Axle Bolt: In F-150 vehicles equipped with the Trailer Tow Max Duty package, the rear axle bolt can deteriorate and break. Dealers will replace these parts as the remedy, and the NHTSA Recall Campaign Number is 25V512000. This recall was announced in August 2025.
  • Damaged Engine: Connecting rod and rod bearing components with potential manufacturing defects can lead to engine damage. Dealers will inspect these potentially problematic elements of the vehicle and replace them as needed. The NHTSA Recall Campaign Number is 25V344000. This recall was announced in June 2025.
  • Loose Fasteners on Lower Intermediate Shaft: The lower intermediate shaft has fasteners which may detach, allowing the shaft to come loose and impacting the driver’s ability to steer. Dealers will inspect and replace this part as necessary. The NHTSA Recall Campaign Number is 25V309000. This recall was announced in May 2025.
  • Missing Dashboard Air Bag Warning Label: An air bag label was missing from the dashboard, failing to inform occupants where the air bags will come from and thereby increasing the chances of injury during a crash. These warning labels were mailed to consumers free of charge as the remedy. The NHTSA Recall Campaign Number is 25V271000. This recall was announced in April 2025.
  • Misaligned Oil Plug: A misaligned oil plug can cause the engine to leak oil, which can eventually damage the engine. Dealers will inspect the alignment and replace the plug if needed. The NHTSA Recall Campaign Number is 25V198000. This recall was announced in March 2025.
  • Incorrectly Machined Transmission Valve Body: An incorrectly machined transmission can cause unexpected forward movement or reverse gear failure. Dealers will replace the transmission main control valve body as the remedy. The NHTSA Recall Campaign Number is 25V164000. This recall was announced in March 2025.
  • Misaligned Oil Plug: As already mentioned, a misaligned oil plug can result in rapid oil leaking and eventual engine damage. Dealers will replace the plug as needed as the remedy. The NHTSA Recall Campaign Number is 24V851000. This recall was announced in November 2024.

What F-150 Owners Say

“The electronic instrument cluster went completely dark and would not come on after turning off the vehicle and locking and unlocking the truck. The dealer reset the cluster, but claims it was simply “overloaded.” This is a major drivability issue as there is no speedometer, no indication of what gear one is in, and the turn signals are inoperable. This is a known problem with no solution.”

“It’s an amazing truck, but we big issues. We had the truck for about 6 months and the truck battery isn’t good anymore. After an update the truck stopped charging & it doesn’t have power to run. We took it to the dealership and it’s already 1 month and they keep saying that they can’t track the parts to replace the battery., but we still paying a lot of money for the loan. Ridiculous.”

“Brake failure on freeway vehicle has 2000 miles. I almost got off hwy but stayed on shoulder after brake warning avoided hitting cars and coasted with very little brakes. Could cause death vehicle was towed from hwy to the dealer”

Legal Help for Ongoing Car Problems

The lemon law process is designed to protect consumers who purchase or lease vehicles that turn out to be defective.

These laws vary by state, but the general idea is the same: if a vehicle has recurring problems that substantially affect its safety, use, or value, and those issues cannot be repaired after a reasonable number of warranty repair attempts, the owner may be entitled to relief. Relief can include a replacement vehicle, a refund, or cash compensation.

The process usually begins when a consumer notices ongoing problems and returns the vehicle to the dealership or authorized manufacturer repair facility.

Documentation is key, so it is important to keep records of repair orders, receipts, and correspondence. If the problem persists after several repair attempts, or if the vehicle has been out of service for an extended period, the owner may qualify for lemon law protection.

At that point, the consumer can file a lemon law claim. Many states require going through arbitration first, where a neutral third party reviews the evidence and makes a recommendation.

If arbitration does not resolve the matter, the claim may proceed to court. Throughout this process, having legal assistance can make a significant difference, since manufacturers often try to limit payouts or deny responsibility.

While each case is unique, lemon law claims often end with the consumer receiving compensation or another form of relief.

The key is knowing your rights, acting quickly, and building a strong case with thorough documentation.
