2025 Volkswagen Tiguan Structural Problems
Structural problems on a vehicle generally concern things like the frame of the vehicle, the front and rear bumper, windows, and other elements of the car that keep it together in one solid piece.
For the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan, consumers have reported a number of concerning structural issues to be aware of.
First, consumers mentioned their sunroof spontaneously exploding. This is an issue that can occur in all kinds of vehicles and usually takes place when the sunroof gets hot and pressure causes it to explode. However, it can also be the cause of faulty manufacturing procedures.
Second, one consumer discussed how a piece on the front of the vehicle broke off and prevented the engine from being able to cool down.
When a vehicle’s parts break off in that manner, they can become problems for either the driver’s own car or for other drivers on the road who are now dealing with an obstacle.
Structural issues, once discovered, should be taken seriously and addressed as soon as they are identified.
2025 Volkswagen Tiguan Electrical System Problems
Electrical system problems are fairly common in modern vehicles largely because there are so many different electrical systems operating and therefore there are a lot of systems that can malfunction.
The 2025 Tiguan is not too different in this respect: consumers have reported their vehicles’ infotainment system not working properly and their sensors providing false warnings or reports.
Faulty sensors especially can be a significant issue, since drivers rely on the sensor outputs during the ordinary operation of their car.
When electronic system problems appear, taking them in to be addressed by a technician is the best bet for getting back on the road safely.
2025 Volkswagen Tiguan Loose Tie Bolt Recall
Beyond what consumers have said, Volkswagen has admitted to a defect in their 2025 Tiguan and has issued a recall.
This recall, identified by the NHTSA Recall Campaign Number 25V526000, involves a loose tie bolt that can lead to a loss of vehicle control.
Only 15 units are potentially impacted by this recall, which is a very small number. Owners will be notified of this recall via mail beginning in early October 2025.
For now, owners concerned about their 2025 Tiguan should be careful while steering and keep an eye or ear out for any unusual sights or sounds while driving.

VW Tiguan Owner Issues
“I wish to report a defect in the new Tiguan which is causing the engine to overheat. The check engine light came on the day after we purchased the vehicle. This was due to a part of the lower shutter in the front of the car breaking off, which prohibited the shutter from opening and shutting. It could not cool the engine and thus the engine started to overheat. We did not get into an accident and in fact had only driven the car once. If this piece is prone to breaking, it could potentially cause other more serious issues.”
“I purchased Tiguan SE on July 2, 2025 and 6 days later with about 200 miles on vehicle, check engine light appeared with message ‘fuel system error.’ I was very disappointed that such a new vehicle reported an error on a critical system. Dealership had trouble identifying source of light and advice of VW technical advice was advised to replace entire fuel tank. This clearly sounds like a manufacture defect and I would like to know if other Tiguan owners have experienced similar issues. Given that VW has a history of defrauding consumers over diesel fuel systems, could this be another fuel problem.”
“I got the 2025 Tiguan SE a little over a week ago and it’s been sent back to the dealership twice with what I assume are electrical malfunctions. Long story short: Every safety feature malfunctioned, front (left and right) headlights, running lights, and blinkers stopped working, and also the drive system malfunctioned. Car had to be towed the first time to the dealership they kept it for 4 days, had it back for less than 36hrs before everything malfunctioned again. Car is currently back at the dealership.”
Steps to Protect Your Vehicle Purchase
The lemon law process is designed to protect consumers who purchase or lease vehicles that turn out to be defective.
It typically begins when a driver experiences recurring issues with their car that remain unresolved despite multiple repair attempts under the manufacturer’s warranty.
To qualify, most state laws require that the defect substantially impairs the vehicle’s use, safety, or value, and that the manufacturer or its authorized dealers have been given a reasonable number of chances to fix the problem.
The first step is to carefully document every issue, keeping repair orders, service receipts, and records of communication with the dealership.
Once the threshold for repair attempts or days out of service has been met, the consumer may notify the manufacturer of a potential lemon law claim.
In many states, the manufacturer is given one last opportunity to make repairs before the claim can move forward.
If the defect persists, the consumer can pursue remedies that often include a vehicle buyback, a replacement vehicle, or sometimes a cash settlement.
Because lemon law requirements differ by state, many consumers choose to work with an attorney who specializes in this area to ensure their claim is handled correctly.
With proper documentation and guidance, the lemon law process can help drivers get out of a defective vehicle and secure the fair resolution they deserve.
