Ian Sanderson is an Associate Attorney at Consumer Law Experts, P.C. He has experience in consumer protection, civil litigation, warranty claims, and technology-related legal matters. His practice focuses on representing California consumers in claims under the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act and the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, and on advocating for clients through all stages of litigation, including case evaluation, written discovery, law and motion practice, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.
Before entering practice, Ian spent years performing hands-on automotive diagnostic and repair work across hybrid, electric, and European platforms. That technical fluency gives him a decisive edge when reviewing repair orders, technical service bulletins, and diagnostic records in his clients’ cases. He is particularly skilled at translating complex technical issues into clear, practical litigation strategies designed to move claims efficiently toward resolution.
Ian graduated from The University of Akron in 2019 with a B.S. in Biology. He earned his Juris Doctor from The University of Akron School of Law in 2023. He is licensed to practice law in California and Ohio and is a registered patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. His combined legal and technical background continues to shape his detail-driven approach to litigation and case strategy. He is committed to protecting consumer rights and holding manufacturers accountable when they fail to honor their warranties and legal obligations.
Why did you choose lemon law? Cars have been part of my life since long before law school. My favorite pastime as a (pre-iPad) child was reading vehicle ownerās manuals and learning how every feature of a car worked. Once I started to drive, I began diagnosing and repairing them for myself and others, so I know how much people depend on their vehicles and how disruptive it is when a new car cannot be trusted. Lemon law is the rare practice where my technical background and my legal training do the same job: leveling the field between an ordinary consumer and a global manufacturer.
Can you share a notable case or success you’ve had in the past? My first warranty cases were my own. While still in college, I pursued defect claims on vehicles in my own driveway, and I saw the process from the consumer’s chair: the repeat visits to the service lane, the paperwork, the headaches, and the quiet pressure to just live with it. Seeing those claims through taught me more about what our clients experience than any casebook, and it is why I try to answer every client question the way I wished someone had answered mine.
What do you enjoy most about practicing law? Translation. Most legal problems are communication problems underneath: a client who has been left in the dark, or a technical defect the other side would rather not spend the time to figure out. I enjoy taking something complicated, whether a statute or a transmission fault, and making it plain enough that the right result becomes obvious. And in this practice, the wins are tangible. The defective car goes back, and the client is made whole.
