Shayla is a skilled and dedicated attorney originally from the small town of Fayette, Mississippi. After graduating from law school in 2020, she was selected to serve as a judicial law clerk for a trial judge—an opportunity she undertook immediately after graduation, providing her with valuable insight into courtroom practice and judicial decision-making from the start of her career.
Soon after, she moved to California, where she expanded her legal experience in litigation, negotiation, legal writing, and appellate advocacy.
She also brings with her practical knowledge of consumer protection law, including lemon law matters.
While in law school, Shayla was a standout both academically and in advocacy. She was inducted into the Phi Delta Phi legal honor society after her first semester and served as a member of the Moot Court Board, competing nationally in appellate, arbitration, and trial competitions.
She also held leadership roles as president, vice president, and executive board member across various community and student organizations.
In addition to her legal work, Shayla has a background in policy research, having worked with the Mississippi Legislature on legislative analysis and drafting.
Outside the courtroom, Shayla channels her creativity into baking, sharing legal-themed and lifestyle content on her Instagram (@shayla.thebakinglawyer) and TikTok (@thebakinglawyer), where she blends her love for the law with a love for sweets
