Audi has issued a new recall for 9,653 E-tron GT electric cars from the 2022-2024 model years, including some RS high-performance variants, due to a brake system issue.
The company informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that the front axle brake hoses in these vehicles could potentially develop cracks, leading to brake fluid leaks.
This brake fluid issue may also impact newer models of the Porsche Taycan, which shares the same J1 platform and 800-volt electrical system as the E-tron GT.
Porsche is recalling 31,689 vehicles from the 2022 to 2025 model years for similar front brake hose problems that could result in fluid leaks. More information on the 2024 Porsche Taycan Brake Recall is available here.
If you own an Audi, Porsche, or Volkswagen vehicle that has required multiple repairs for similar brake fluid issues, you may be eligible for a lemon law claim, which could entitle you to a refund or cash compensation.
Affected Vehicle | Average Lemon Law Settlement |
Audi E-Tron GT | $183,050 |

What You Need to Know About the E-Tron Brake Recall
The Audi ETron Brake Fluid Recall affects both the standard E-Tron GT and the high-performance RS E-Tron GT sedans from the 2022-2024 model years.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), these vehicles may have front brake hoses that are not durable enough to withstand the normal bending and deflection experienced during use.
This issue can lead to cracks in the fabric material of the hoses, potentially causing brake fluid leaks.
If a brake circuit fails, it can reduce the vehicle’s braking ability, resulting in longer stopping distances. Drivers of affected vehicles may notice a low brake fluid level warning light.
How Will Audi Fix the Problem?
According to the recall notice, Audi will replace the front axle brake hoses with new, optimized versions, along with a new holder, at no cost to owners.
These replacement hoses are designed to be more durable and resistant to cracking, which should prevent brake fluid leaks that could compromise braking performance.
For Audi drivers, the first step is to schedule a service appointment with their local Audi dealership. It’s advisable to do this promptly after receiving the recall notification to ensure that your vehicle is inspected and repaired without delay.
The dealership will carry out the necessary repairs, including replacing the front brake hoses and installing the new holder.
During this process, Audi may offer a loaner vehicle or transportation assistance, so it’s worth asking about these options when you schedule your appointment.
Keeping records of all interactions with the dealership and the repairs performed can be useful, particularly if any issues arise later.
After the repairs are completed, continue to monitor your vehicle for any signs of brake issues and report them immediately to ensure your continued safety.
Audi E-Tron GT Recall Checklist
Check if Your VIN Is Affected
First, determine whether your vehicle is part of the recall. You can do this by checking your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) against the list of affected VINs provided by Audi or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
This step is crucial to ensure that your vehicle is included in the recall and requires attention.
Examine Your Vehicle
Be vigilant about any signs of reduced braking performance, as this can pose significant safety risks. If you notice a longer stopping distance or other unusual braking behaviors, take immediate precautions and limit driving.
Reduced braking capability can be dangerous, especially in emergency situations, so it’s best to address the issue promptly.
Wait for Recall Notification
If your vehicle is affected by the recall but you haven’t yet experienced any issues, wait for an official recall notification from Audi.
This notice will provide details on how and when you can get your vehicle serviced. It’s advisable not to delay once you’ve received this notification, as the repairs are necessary to ensure your vehicle’s safety.
Get in Touch with Audi
Upon receiving the recall notification, contact your local Audi dealership to schedule the necessary repairs.
Even if you haven’t received a notification yet but are experiencing brake issues, it’s wise to reach out to Audi as soon as possible. They can provide guidance and arrange for an inspection and any repairs your vehicle needs.
Consider Legal Assistance
If your vehicle has undergone repeat repairs for the same or similar issue, or if you’ve experienced significant inconvenience or safety concerns, you may want to seek legal advice.
A consumer protection attorney can help you understand your rights and determine if you’re eligible for compensation under lemon laws or other consumer protection statutes.
Legal assistance can be particularly valuable if you’ve faced repeated problems or if the recall repairs do not resolve the issues with your vehicle.
