In this case, our client purchased a brand-new 2020 Jeep Renegade from McPeek’s Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM in Anaheim, California, which had just 43 miles on the odometer. Unfortunately, the ownership experience quickly soured due to persistent mechanical issues, resulting in numerous visits to the dealership for warranty repairs.
The first service visit took place at 35,892 miles, when the client reported static from the driver speaker. The dealership replaced the driver door speaker under warranty; however, further problems soon emerged. At 43,846 miles, the client returned due to the key fob intermittently failing to lock and unlock the doors.
The dealership suggested replacing the key fob battery and performed an oil change, but these actions did not resolve the underlying key fob issue.
By the time the vehicle had around 47,503 miles on it, the check engine light illuminated, and the car began to hesitate while driving, prompting our client to take the vehicle in once again. The dealership inspected the vehicle and addressed multiple issues, including replacing the canister vapor and purge solenoid, fixing low oil pressure, and repairing a timing cover leak.
Despite these efforts, the check engine light remained on, and the vehicle had spent a total of 32 days in the shop across various repair attempts without a lasting solution.
The problems persisted when the client returned for another service at 56,515 miles, reporting the check engine light was still active and the A/C was not blowing cold. Following a certified multi-point inspection, the dealership found no immediate repairs needed, and the client opted not to pursue further work at that time.
