A 2024 Ford Mustang purchased brand new from an Orange, California dealership should have been a trusted and capable vehicle for years to come. Unfortunately for its owner, that was not the experience it had in store. Less than a year after being purchased, the owner took the vehicle in to be inspected after experiencing a number of concerning issues.
At this point, the vehicle had just over 8,500 miles on it. When it was brought in for its first inspection, the vehicle would sometimes not start or start but not come out of park. The owner had also noticed a tapping or rattling noise underneath the car while driving. Finally, the software in the car for the infotainment system would regularly erase stored data, including added phones and Bluetooth devices and system settings. After 12 days at the dealership, technicians were unable to replicate any of the issues the vehicle owner described.
Nevertheless, the issues persisted. After less than two months since the first inspection, the vehicle owner was back at the dealership with their Ford Ranger. Other than some slightly different issues with the infotainment system, the problems were largely the same: a tapping noise coming from the engine while driving, power steering malfunction warnings, and problems with the sound system were reported by the vehicle owner.
Technicians once again were unable to replicate these issues, leaving the vehicle owner stuck with her still-problematic vehicle. This repair also took 12 days, meaning that the vehicle owner was unable to use their vehicle for over 20 days in the span of under two months.
After another 20 days, the vehicle was back in the shop for issues that would continue to develop. The sound system was still malfunctioning, and the owner could not hear sound coming from the speakers or would hear the sound cutting off while in use. This type of volume cut off could be distracting or dangerous while driving, especially if it is loud or sudden.
The owner also mentioned that the vehicle’s steering wheel would vibrate when driving at highway speeds, developing the thought that something was wrong with the vehicle’s steering system. Technicians were unable to replicate this issue themselves, and the vehicle was in the shop for another 16 days.
Just over a month later, the vehicle owner went back for repairs for a final time after experiencing more concerning steering wheel problems and the same infotainment system issues. This time, there was also a concerning incident where the automatic braking system engaged without needing to, and the vehicle screeched to a stop. Additionally, the vehicle’s problem of not shifting into drive was reported to be back. After 7 more days in the shop, the vehicle owner turned to the lemon law for compensation and reached out to the Lemon Law Experts for assistance in bringing their claim.
