Engine problems began soon after the purchase of a new 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe in California. With only 9,000 miles on the odometer, the vehicle’s engine stalled while driving and refused to restart, prompting immediate concern. The vehicle was towed to a Hyundai dealership for inspection.

A scan of the engine control module (ECM) revealed multiple fault codes, including P030200 (cylinder 2 misfire detected), P053F84 (cold start fuel pressure performance bank 1), and P019184 (fuel rail pressure sensor circuit range/performance).

Despite a series of repairs, including the replacement of the cylinder 2 GDI injector, high-pressure fuel line, and combustion seal per TSB 23-fl-002h-1, the issues persisted.

The situation worsened when the Santa Fe remained at the dealership for 45 days. With just about 13,000 miles, the vehicle was brought back in for a multi-point inspection.

During this visit, the dealership also performed a campaign inspection for the tow hitch harness (campaign 23-01-027h), as well as a dark current measurement as per campaign 23-01-036h-1. The stalling issue remained unresolved despite these repair attempts.

With the vehicle inoperable for such an extended period and the engine issues persisting despite several repair attempts, the case clearly qualified under California’s Lemon Law. Our client decided to enlist the Lemon Law Experts for help with their lemon law claim against Hyundai.

As a result of the legal team’s expertise, the case was successfully resolved in favor of the client. Hyundai Motor America repurchased the defective Santa Fe and covered all their legal fees and costs.
