A new 2023 Tesla Model 3 experienced numerous problems shortly after purchase, despite multiple attempts at repair under the manufacturer’s warranty. Early on, the vehicle exhibited recurring screen reboot issues that impacted drivability, leading Tesla technicians to replace the vehicle’s main computer. Following this repair, the screen issues appeared resolved after validation testing.
Additional mechanical concerns arose, including a malfunctioning center armrest latch and a glovebox that failed to open. Investigations revealed that the armrest latch was broken and required replacement. The glovebox issue was traced back to improperly connected wiring affecting both the glovebox and speaker functionality, which was corrected by Tesla service personnel.
Further complications included a persistent “Front Passenger Safety Restraint System Fault.” After replacing an occupancy sensor failed to eliminate the warning, Tesla determined the seat itself was defective and replaced it. Calibration following the replacement resolved the fault.
Routine maintenance visits also addressed tire issues, including a sidewall impact that rendered a front tire non-repairable and required replacement. Tire rotations and pressure checks were conducted during subsequent service appointments, along with periodic software updates to enhance vehicle features such as autosteer controls.
Despite these repeated repairs and part replacements, the vehicle continued to experience intermittent software performance problems, such as slow screen loading and network errors affecting navigation and streaming apps. Tesla service noted that these connectivity issues could stem from external network providers rather than vehicle hardware, and attempted system cache clearing to improve performance.
Although most repairs were completed under warranty, the vehicle’s ongoing reliability concerns remained unresolved. When a car continues to experience significant issues after multiple repair attempts, owners may have grounds to pursue a lemon law claim.
