14%, or approximately 35,091 of the 250,651 recalled vehicles, are estimated to be affected by the side curtain airbag defect.
Chrysler, under its parent company Stellantis, has announced a recall for 250,651 Pacifica and Voyager minivans from model years 2022 through 2025 due to airbags with improperly sealed seams.
This defect causes the airbags to lose pressure during deployment, which significantly increases the risk of injury, especially from partial or full ejection through side windows during a crash.
Chrysler’s detailed production analysis allowed the company to identify the specific period when the faulty airbags were installed, narrowing the affected vehicles to those produced between May 10, 2022, and November 3, 2024.
Of the total recalled vehicles, roughly 40,000 are Voyager minivans, while about 210,000 are Pacificas.

What’s Wrong with the Chrysler Side Curtain Airbags?
This flaw is caused by improperly sealed seams in the airbags, which can result in them not fully inflating or deflating too quickly, reducing their ability to protect occupants effectively.
This issue is particularly serious because side curtain airbags are designed to prevent occupants from being ejected through the side windows during side-impact collisions or rollovers.
When these airbags do not deploy correctly, the risk of partial or full ejection rises significantly, increasing the likelihood of severe injuries or fatalities.
Regulatory testing by Transport Canada and Chrysler confirmed that some of these airbags fail to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 226, which establishes the requirements for ejection mitigation.
The defective airbags were supplied by Autoliv ASP, Inc., and the problem has been traced to a supplier manufacturing issue that occurred within the production window mentioned above.
Which Chrysler Models Are Affected by the Recall?
The recall covers vehicles manufactured between May 10, 2022, and November 3, 2024, during which a manufacturing defect led to airbags that may not deploy properly in a crash. Affected models include:
- Chrysler Pacifica (2022–2025)
- Chrysler Voyager (2022–2025)
If you own one of these vehicles, it’s important to confirm whether your specific car is part of the recall.
You can do this by visiting either the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s recall page at nhtsa.gov/recalls or the official Mopar recall site at mopar.com/recalls.
By entering your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on either site, you will be able to quickly determine if your vehicle requires inspection or repair under this recall.

How Chrysler Is Addressing the Airbag Problem
As part of the recall repair, Chrysler will offer free inspections and replacements for affected airbags, whether located on the driver’s side, passenger’s side, or both.
While the final repair solution has been finalized, Chrysler is currently building up an inventory of replacement airbags featuring properly sealed seams designed to maintain adequate inflation pressure during deployment and may not have all parts available for repair work.
Repairs will commence as soon as dealerships are fully stocked with these components.
Owners were first notified of the recall with interim letters mailed beginning June 30, 2025. A second notification will be issued once replacement parts become available and repair services are ready to be scheduled.
For assistance, owners can contact Chrysler’s customer support line at 800-853-1403 and reference recall numbers 06C, 54C, or 55C.
Additionally, vehicle owners may verify recall status by entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) at nhtsa.gov/recalls or mopar.com/recalls.
What Should Chrysler Minivan Owners Do Now?
If your Chrysler Pacifica or Voyager is affected by the side curtain airbag recall, here’s what you should do next to stay safe and ensure your vehicle is repaired properly:
- Watch for Recall Notifications: Chrysler will send official recall notices by mail or email. These will provide important details about the airbag defect and explain the next steps.
- Schedule Your Recall Service: Once replacement airbags become available—expected by the third quarter of 2025—contact your authorized Chrysler dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair.
- Don’t Attempt DIY Repairs: Airbags are critical safety components that require professional handling. Never try to repair or tamper with them yourself.
- Stay Informed: Keep up with updates from Chrysler’s official channels and the NHTSA for any new information or instructions regarding the recall.
- Report Any Issues Immediately: If you experience any airbag problems or safety concerns before your repair, contact Chrysler Customer Service and report the issue to the NHTSA promptly.
