Ford Motor Company recently issued a recall for over 154,000 potential lemon Fiesta subcompacts. The recall is to provide repairs for a defect with the vehicle’s side airbags.
Specifically, the recall affects Fiesta subcompacts from the 2011 through 2013 model years. These models were built in Mexico between November 3, 2009 and September 21, 2012.
Ford reports that the reason for this latest recall is a defect with the affected vehicles that causes the side airbag to not inflate when the front passenger seat is empty, leaving rear-seat passengers unprotected in crash collisions. The computer controlling the side airbag must be reprogrammed in affected vehicles.
