ford Power Brake Loss

A new Ford recall focused on remedying a faulty power brake has identified 1%, or about 3,120, of the 312,120 recalled vehicles actually contain the defect.

These recalls impact a number of vehicles, including the Lincoln Navigator, the Ford Ranger, the Ford Bronco, the Ford Expedition, and the Ford F150.

What Causes the Electronic Brake Booster Failure?

According to the letter Ford received from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, or NHTSA, the Electronic Brake Booster module can mistakenly enter a disabled state while the vehicle is being operated, which means the vehicle does not have a brake boost until the module resets when the vehicle is shut off.

Ford has also identified that this problem can occur during the use of Ford’s “Advanced Driver Assistance System” feature, which functions like a cruise control, collision avoidance, or braking assist system.

Which Ford Models Are Affected?

As mentioned, several Ford and Lincoln models are involved in this recall. The 2025 Lincoln Navigator, the 2025 Ford Ranger, the 2025 Ford Bronco, the 2025 Ford Expedition, and the 2025 Ford F150 are subject to the recall.

These are all new vehicles, so consumers might be frustrated to hear a recall is already taking place.

Thankfully, Ford has plans in place for owner notification and vehicle repair. According to Ford’s recall notification letter, dealers will be informed of the recall between August 11th and August 15th, while owners will be notified of the remedy between August 25th and August 29th.

Is There an Electronic Brake Booster Fix?

Thankfully for owners of these impacted vehicles, the remedy appears straightforward for consumers to receive.

Ford will send out a software update for the Electronic Brake Booster module, which can be done completely over the air.

This means that consumers will receive the update without having to go to a dealership. However, Ford has stated they will also provide the update to consumers who go to a dealership to have it done.

Either way, this update comes at no cost to the consumer.

Steps for Those Affected by the Ford EBB Recall

The first step for a consumer impacted by this recall is to take care when operating the impacted vehicle. Since the brake booster module is a critical part of these impacted models’ safety, the vehicle should be driven with care and if possible, not driven much at all.

A faulty brake booster can significantly increase the risk of an accident happening, especially if the driver is relying on the Advanced Driver Assistance System that the booster module also contributes to.

Other than being careful with the vehicle itself, consumers should be diligent about checking their mail for Ford’s recall letter.

Once this letter is sent out, there will be more information as to when and how the software updates are released for the impacted vehicles.

However, if that update does not solve the issue and you continue to deal with frustrating brake issues, you may be dealing with a lemon.

For lemon vehicles, you have special rights as a consumer that you should be aware of.

When to Contact a Lemon Law Attorney

The lemon law process offers legal recourse to consumers stuck with vehicles that are subject to repeat warranty repairs for the same or similar problems.

When a new or recently leased vehicle begins to experience defects that significantly impact its drivability, safety, or market value, and repairs fail to fix those problems, the vehicle owner may qualify for protection under state or federal lemon laws.

The first move in this process involves collecting detailed records: repair invoices, service reports, and dates the vehicle was unavailable due to repairs.

These records serve as vital evidence showing the defect’s persistence and the manufacturer’s inability to correct it.

Once it’s clear the problem continues despite reasonable efforts to repair it, the vehicle owner may be required to send a formal notification to the manufacturer.

This notice gives the manufacturer one last chance to fix the issue or offer a remedy, which could include replacing the vehicle or buying it back.

However, these offers often fall short of what the consumer is truly entitled to. That’s where the guidance of a skilled lemon law attorney becomes crucial.

A legal expert can help determine whether the defect qualifies under the law and push for maximum compensation, which may include a refund of the purchase price, reimbursement for repair costs, and coverage of legal fees.

While some cases are resolved quickly through direct negotiations, others may require formal arbitration or litigation.

The timeline and specific procedures can vary depending on the laws in your state, so following each step carefully is important.

Although dealing with a defective vehicle is frustrating, lemon law statutes are in place to ensure that manufacturers are held responsible and consumers aren’t left with unreliable transportation.

With the right legal support and complete documentation, many people are able to resolve their claims and move on with a dependable replacement or a full financial recovery.
