100% or 32,594 Genesis vehicles are estimated to be affected by instrument panel display failures. The 2025 Genesis Instrument Panel Display Recall affects several models, including the 2023-2025 Genesis G80, GV80, and GV70.
The issue arises from a software error in the instrument panel (IP) cluster display, which can cause the display to become inoperative or degrade.
When this happens, critical information such as the speedometer, fuel gauge, and certain warning lights may be obscured, increasing the risk of a crash.
Genesis has received 454 reports of instrument panel failures in the U.S. market. Fortunately, there have been no reports of crashes or injuries related to the issue.
If you own one of the affected models, you should receive a recall notice by April 20, 2025.

What’s Wrong with the Genesis Instrument Panel Display?
The issue with the Genesis instrument panel display arises from a software error affecting the screen’s initialization protocol.
This error can cause the display to malfunction, either failing to load or showing delayed images. The problem impacts essential functions like the speedometer, fuel gauge, and warning lights.
Genesis has reported 454 instances of this issue in the U.S. market, but fortunately, there have been no crashes or injuries linked to the malfunction. The recall affects several models, including the 2023-2025 Genesis G80, GV80, and GV70.
The issue was first flagged on December 16, 2024, when a Speak Up for Safety (SUFS) report was received about an instrument cluster display malfunction on certain Genesis GV70 and GV70 Electrified vehicles in foreign markets.
NASO began investigating and confirmed that the issue was due to a faulty screen initialization protocol.
The software error, present at final manufacturing, could trigger the malfunction randomly, even before the vehicle was sold.
After further investigation, NASO concluded that the issue violated Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 101, “Controls and Displays,” leading to a noncompliance recall for all affected vehicles in the U.S.
As of February 3, 2025, 454 unique incidents were reported, but no related crashes, injuries, or fires have been confirmed.
Is My Genesis Included?
The recall addresses a problem where, upon starting the vehicle, the instrument panel (IP) cluster display may not function properly.
In some cases, the display could be completely inoperative or show intermittent performance, such as flickering or partial images.
To find out if your Genesis vehicle is part of the recall, check the affected models and production years:
- Genesis G80: Model years 2023-2024
- Genesis GV80: Model years 2023-2024
- Genesis GV70: Model year 2025
- Genesis Electrified GV70: Model years 2023-2025
You can also confirm if your specific vehicle is affected by entering your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the Genesis recall website or by contacting Genesis customer service directly.

What Solution Does the Manufacturer Have for the Issue?
Genesis has issued Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 25-01-007G-1 to address the display malfunction. This bulletin provides instructions for updating the instrument panel display software.
The solution involves a software update to the Instrument Cluster Logic Unit (CLU) to fix the software error causing the display failures.
Genesis dealers will perform the software update at no cost to owners. Recall notices will be sent out by April 20, 2025.
What Should I Do Next?
If your Genesis vehicle is affected by the instrument panel display recall, follow these steps:
- Check Your VIN: Visit the Genesis recall website, the NHTSA recall check tool, or contact Genesis customer service to verify if your vehicle is included in the recall. You can do this by entering your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
