Lemon Law Alert! GM Announces Recall of the 2012 Chevy Sonic for a Windshield Washer Defect

Lemon GM

General Motors Company announced that it is recalling approximately 45,000 2012 Chevy Sonics for defective windshield washers.  The recall covers 2012 Chevy Sonics that were manufactured between May 5, 2011 through February 23, 2012.  The Chevy Sonic is our nation’s best-selling subcompact car.
According to GM, the voluntary recall was issued as a result of an abnormal number of warranty claims related to the windshield washer system. The hose that that is designed to carry fluid from the reservoir to the dispensing nozzles can separate thereby resulting in washer fluid spraying on the car’s windshield.

After noticing an excessive amount of warranty repair claims, GM issued this recall.  This is the second voluntary recall in the past 12 months issued for the GM Sonic.

GM stated that it will notify all owners and lease holders of the affected vehicles and that authorized GM service providers will perform the necessary repair work free of charge.

This safety recall is planned to begin on September 7, 2012.
