Yes, Honda has issued a recall for select Accord models due to transmission issues. This recall affects a limited number of hybrid Honda CR-Vs and Accords, which are equipped with an e-CVT transmission.
The problem originates from a manufacturing flaw in the transmission’s assembly process, specifically with the generator resolver cover.
If the cover is damaged, it could break apart and move within the transmission, potentially severing the wires connected to the generator resolver while the vehicle is in operation.
If this happens, the car could lose power to the drivetrain and may be unable to restart. This malfunction could create a hazardous driving condition, increasing the likelihood of an accident.
Drivers may be notified of the issue through a warning message displayed on the dashboard. Fortunately, Honda has reported only one warranty claim related to this problem, triggered by a “check charging system” warning. No injuries or fatalities have been linked to the issue at this time.
To resolve the problem, Honda will begin contacting affected customers on October 11, advising them to return their vehicles to a nearby dealership.
