Toyota Motor Sales USA, Inc. has issued yet another recall regarding the Toyota Prius. This time the auto manufacturer is issuing a voluntary recall over power steering problems with the Prius.

The recall affects approximately 52,000 model years 2001 through 2003 Prius vehicles that were sold in the United States. On June 1, 2011 Toyota announced the recall due to a power steering problem that can occur with the affected vehicles. According to Toyota, shaft nuts involved with the steering wheel can become loose, which overtime can result in difficulty making left hand turns.

Consumers who own the affected vehicles will be notified by mail early next month. If you own a 2001 through 2003 Prius, you can take your vehicle into an authorized Toyota dealership who will make the necessary repairs to the vehicle. The authorized Toyota dealers will install improved shaft nuts that will secure the steering wheel.

Consumers who own the affected Prius vehicles can call the Toyota Customer Experience Center at (800) 331-4331 or visit for additional information.
