The 2019 Nissan Titan is a standard, full-size pickup truck with a powerful V8 engine. Although there are other major leaders in the pickup truck market, this Nissan truck still manages to hold its own. Nissan claims to offer “America’s Best Truck Warranty” across its line of Nissan trucks. Although that seems enticing, there seem to be several reasons why the automaker is making such an offer. Many Titan drivers are experiencing major manufacturing defects in their vehicles.
2019 Nissan Titan Problems
Some common issues that drivers experience include defects in the:
- Electrical system
- Transmission
- Steering
- Service brakes
- Fuel system
- Tires
Drivers have reported seeing multiple Nissan Titan warning lights on their dashboards amongst other electrical system issues such as radio malfunctions or camera loss. Some Titan drivers say that their vehicle’s radio will continue to play despite turning the vehicle off.
The 2019 Titan is also known for steering issues. Drivers may discover a Nissan DTC P1564 warning code when they take their vehicles in for service. The issue is often caused by a faulty Automatic Speed Control Device (ASCD) switch, which is Nissan’s cruise control.
Car starter problems are also a big concern in this Nissan model. They are likely the result of a defective alternator, the generator in the vehicle that produces energy. This symptom could also indicate battery defects in the pickup truck.
Common transmission problems include loss of acceleration, sudden acceleration/deceleration or difficulty shifting. Unfortunately, Nissan is no stranger to transmission issues in vehicles across their lineup and the Titan is no exception.
Nissan Titan Recalls
There are currently 4 safety recalls for this model year vehicle. In June 2019, Nissan recalled certain 2017-2019 Titan vehicles for an electrical system defect. The automaker said that the alternator harness may have been damaged during production and could result in an electrical short. That same year in September, the Titan was included in a long list of Nissan vehicles that could potentially have issues with their rearview cameras.
In 2020, the automaker recalled certain 2019 vehicles with LED headlights. Nissan stated that these vehicles do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.” The headlights in these vehicles may have incorrect aiming marks, which can result in decreased illumination on the road. Service providers were instructed to replace headlight assemblies if necessary.
The latest recall involving this vehicle was announced in March 2021. Certain 2019-2020 Altimas and 2018-2021 Titans were included. Nissan said that affected vehicles may have tires that were cured too long during production, resulting in breaks in the sidewall or sudden air loss.
Nissan Titan Common Consumer Concerns
The following are excerpts from formal complaints filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regarding 2019 Nissan Titan and 2019 Nissan Titan XD Diesel problems. Several of the complaints discussed problems in the vehicle’s transmission, electrical system, powertrain, and tires.
“Nissan connect system constantly resets or reboots. Apple Carplay works intermittently, and the radio turns on and off by itself, constantly, whether the car is running or not. Most times the radio comes on by merely approaching the truck with the fob on my person or when simply opening the door. When it comes on unexpectedly, it startles everyone on board due to the very loud volume… there’s no way to turn it off until it goes off by itself. Sometimes for as long as two minutes.”

“The contact stated while driving 80 mph, the rear driver’s side tire experienced a blowout. The contact was able to control the vehicle and veered to the side of the road… The tire and vehicle failure mileage were approximately 24,060.”

“Frequent and intermittent appearance of ABS, traction control, engine warning and 4WD Error lights on dashboard. All lights appear simultaneously and when they appear, cruise control fails, vehicle downshifts and slows substantially, and engine RPMs increase 10-20% above norm for each gear. If the vehicle is stopped, turned off and then restarted, conditions return to normal, only to appear again later.

“I’ve experienced an issue where I can push the accelerator pedal to the floor, and it will not accelerate at all. The engine rpms would slowly increase but the truck would continue to slow down as if the transmission was not fully engaged.”

California Nissan Lemon Law Experts
