Attorney FAQ

What law school did you attend? I attended UC Hastings College of Law in San Francisco, now known as UC Law San Francisco.

Why did you become a lawyer? I decided to become a lawyer after watching a documentary on dissociative identity disorder where people described the abuse they suffered as children that cause their mental health disorders. Many of them said that their abusers were never prosecuted, which made me realize that I wanted to become an advocate for people who would not otherwise have a voice.

Can you share a notable case or success you’ve had in the past? One of my most memorable achievements as a lawyer was winning an opposition to a motion to compel arbitration in a lemon law case. My client initially leased her vehicle, and the lease had a clause, specifically designating the manufacturer as a party who could compel arbitration. However the client subsequently purchased the vehicle, and the purchase agreement did not contain an arbitration clause. I argued that the subsequent purchase agreement was a novation and therefore extinguished all the previous rights and obligations granted by the lease. I thought the argument was a long shot, because California courts heavily favor arbitration, but the judge agreed that the purchase agreement constituted a novation, so the case proceeded in litigation!
