Audi’s parent company, Volkswagen recently announced the recall of one its most expensive supercars, the Audi R8 Spyder. The recall is expected to begin towards the end of the month and it effects model years 2011 – 2012 R8s that were built between May 18, 2010 and June 22, 2011.
The recall has been announced for a potential fuel leak issue. Audi announced that the fuel supply line may rub against a heat shield in the engine compartment, which can cause a fuel leak and ultimately result in a fire.
The recall is expected to commence on August 22, 2011 and Audi will be contacting consumers regarding their potential lemon Audi R8 vehicles. Authorized dealerships will inspect the vehicles for damage to the fuel line and will make replacements and repairs as necessary, free of charge.
