Volkswagen Group of America recently announced a voluntary recall for approximately 168,000 potential lemon VW and lemon Audi vehicles that are equipped with the TDI engines. The affected vehicles may be subject to fuel leaks, which in turn can result in a fire.
The recall covers the model years 2010 – 2012 Volkswagen Golf, 2009 – 2012 Volkswagen Jetta and Jetta Sportwagen, and 2010 – 2012 Audi A3. The National Highway and Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that the vehicles’ fuel pump injector is susceptible to developing a crack that may leak fuel and can result in a fire.
Volkswagen and Audi dealerships will provide repair work to the affected vehicles by installing an improved fuel line. If you own or lease one of the model year vehicles listed above, contact your local Volkswagen or Audi dealership in order to get additional information.
If you own or lease a potential lemon Volkswagen or lemon Audi and you have presented your vehicle to an authorized Volkswagen dealership for repair attempts to the fuel line, then you may be driving a lemon and you may be entitled to compensation.
